Purpose Over Chaos
Helping high drive adolescent dogs become calm, public ready companions
Through structured, trainer-led programs, we install the mechanics and regulation needed for calm, confident walks and real-world composure.
The Right Path For Your Dog
We specialize in high-drive adolescent dogs ready for structured public composure. For dogs needing regulation first, we begin there.
Walk With Purpose
For high-drive adolescent dogs
A structured 4-week system that installs calm leash behavior, public composure, and real-world confidence.
Calm On Purpose
For dogs needing regulation before public work
A structured stabilization track that builds emotional regulation and engagement as a foundation for future training.
Not Sure Where Your Dog Fits?
That’s normal. Most dogs don’t fall neatly into one category.
A consultation helps determine the right starting point so we don’t rush, guess, or waste your time.
Why On Purpose Dog Training Is Different
Most dog training focuses on commands. We focus on calm, clarity and real-life behavior.
At On Purpose Dog Training, we don’t rush dogs into obedience before they’re ready. We build the emotional and behavioral foundations that actually make training stick at home, on walks, and in the real world.
What That Means For You
No force, fear, or shortcuts
Training is positive, choice based and centered on your dog’s emotional state, not suppression.
Calm comes before control
A dog that can regulate themselves learns faster, behaves better, and stays reliable long-term
Structure over chaos
Clear routines, predictable patterns, and purposeful sessions, not random tips or one off fixes.
Programs, not patchwork sessions
Dogs improve through progression, not isolated lessons. Every program follows a clear developmental path.
Designed for real life
Busy homes. Kids. Apartments. Walks around other dogs. This isn’t “perfect world” training.
Who This Is For
On Purpose is a great fit if you:
Want a calm, well-mannered dog, not just a dog who “knows commands”
Prefer positive reinforcement and modern training methods.
Are open to structure, consistency, and clear guidance.
Value long-term results over quick fixes.
If you’re looking for shock collars, dominance techniques, or instant results this won’t be the right fit and that is intentional.
Not sure where to start?
A consultation helps determine the right path for your dog.
How Training Works
Every dog and every household is different.
That’s why training at On Purpose Dog Training follows a clear, intentional process designed to create lasting results.
Step 1: Consultation & Placement
We start with a consultation to understand your dog’s age, temperament, and emotional state, your goals, lifestyle, and household setup and what’s actually driving the behavior (not just what it looks like)
From there, we place your dog into the right program and tier based on their needs. This ensures we build the right skills at the right pace.
Step 4: Progression
We never rush, test or “see how it goes.”
Dogs progress when:
Skills are fluent, emotional responses are stable, and the environment matches the dog’s ability
When your dog is ready, we move forward. If they’re not, we slow down — on purpose.
Not sure which program is right for your dog?
The consultation helps determine the best path forward.
Step 2: Trainer Led Sessions
All programs are trainer-led. We do the hands-on training while your dog learns calmly without distraction.
Sessions are structured and purposeful, built on progressive skill development, and focused on emotional regulation before obedience.
At the end of each session, you’ll receive a clear handoff so you know exactly how to support progress at home.
Step 3: Homework & Support
Training doesn’t stop when the session ends.
After each session you will receive…
Simple, realistic homework assignments
Video demos and written guidance
Ongoing communication through the PocketSuite app
A shared Google Drive with resources specific to your dog
Training Programs

Why On Purpose Dog Training
Most dog training focuses on fixing behaviors in isolation. We focus on building dogs who can function calmly in real life.
At On Purpose Dog Training, every program is:
Trainer-led, not DIY
Jay does the hands-on training so your dog learns correctly from the start. You’re not left guessing or managing chaos between sessions.
Built on emotional regulation first
Calm comes before commands. When a dog can regulate their emotions, training actually sticks — without force, pressure, or shortcuts.
Structured and intentional
No random sessions. No “we’ll see how it goes.” Every program follows a clear progression so your dog isn’t pushed too fast or left confused.
Ethical and force-free
Jay uses positive reinforcement and modern behavior methods to create change without fear, pain, or intimidation.
Designed for real households
Busy schedules. Kids. Work-from-home. Apartment living. Real distractions. Training should work where you live, not just in perfect conditions.
Focused on long-term success
The goal isn’t a dog who behaves during training. The goal is a dog you can trust day after day. If you’re looking for quick fixes, obedience-only training, or harsh methods, I’m probably not the right fit. If you want a calm, confident dog and a clear plan to get there you’re in the right place.
